Just got a couple of questions for those of you that have one as I'm thinking of buying one. First, does the PS3 have a built in wireless adapter; if so, how well does it work for online gaming; if not, what adapter would I need?
Second, I know the controllers are wireless, what kind of batteries do they take or are they rechargeable? And lastly, has anyone tried the game MAG yet? Thoughts? -sh00ter

1. Yes, it does. It works well enough. I don't personally bother with it; my PS3 sits on the entertainment center not one foot away from the router, so a short length of cat 5 does the trick. No adapter is necessary -- there's a standard networking jack in the back of the console. (At least, it used to be. I'm not 100% positive that the latest generation still features this, as they've reduced the amount of hardware drastically. It's probably still there though.)
2. The batteries are integral to the controllers and charge automatically whenever the controllers are plugged in. 3. I haven't tried it.

Well Dave already provided answers to a couple questions but I thought I would help some too since my brother has a PS3 that I play.
As Dave said it does have built in wireless just like the Wii. The only current gen console that doesn't is Microsoft and they charge out their ass for a wireless adapter ($99 I think). My brother has a wireless modem which is on a separate floor in his house and he can connect just fine. I didn't play much of MAG but what I did play I didn't really care for it. Sure the 256 players with 128 vs. 128 teams but that doesn't make it a good game. I would probably recommend Bad Company 2 over MAG if you are looking for a good online FPS. |

I tried the first Bad Company, and didn’t really care for it, is the second a big improvement over the first? I’ve been spoiled with the COD line of FPS and I’m trying to branch out and give some others a shot. -sh00ter

Again I didn't play too much of it but I just found that it didn't seem very polished. To me it really still felt like a beta. I think there are only something like 9 maps. Sure they are large but from the ones I saw and played they all looked very similar. There were lots of small bugs I ran into... nothing major or that they couldn't fix in an update but it just made the game feel more like a beta than a final release.
Also the game seemed a bit unbalanced (possibly because we were playing after others had the game for a while). It seemed like it would take a bit of time just to get to a spot where there was lots of fighting going on but when I got there it only took a few seconds and I was already dead and respawning. I'm not saying I'm awesome at FPS but I would like to think I'm pretty good at them so this was pretty crappy since I spent a lot of time just running towards all the fighting just to be killed again. ![]() Lastly the game is multiplayer only. If the community dies off then you will have trouble finding online games. To me you are better off putting your money towards another FPS that offers single player and multiplayer. I can't really comment on Bad Company 2 because I haven't played it yet I just know that it is getting tons of praise and I know if I had to choose between the two that would be the game I would go for. If you didn't care for the first one though you might want to check out some gameplay footage first or read a review or two online. |

BTW, now that XBox has released a new version of the 360 all current gen consoles now have built in WiFi.
